AN Ambleside shop has organised a weekend litter clean-up.

Alpkit is asking south Cumbria residents to get involved in a weekend litter pick at Rydal water, caves and terrace on Sunday February 16.

The outdoor clothing and equipment retailer is promising Alpkit stickers and a ten per cent discount in the Ambleside shop for those taking part on the day. Besides this, there will be free hot drinks and homemade flapjacks on offer.

Georgia Stevens, on behalf of the Ambleside shop, said: “It’s about getting people out, but also making the event accessible for all - including for people with .

“As well as the clean-up on the ground, cleaners will be using SUP boards to fish rubbish out of the water,” Miss Stevens explained.

Children are welcome at the litter-picking event, Alpkit Ambleside says, but must be accompanied by an adult.

At 10am, the litter pickers will meet at the Pelter Bridge car park at the East end of Rydal water. The event is expected to last several hours.
