STAFF and pupils at Sedbergh Primary School were delighted to receive a letter from the Minister of State for Schools Standards Nick Gibb MP this week congratulating them on the very high level of progress children had made in their reading, writing and mathematics in last year’s Key Stage 2 assessments.

These results place Sedbergh Primary School in the top 3 per cent of schools nationally.

In his letter, Mr Gibb said he was keen to recognise that success in school is down to the ‘commitment’ of all staff.

The school said it prided itself on providing a rich, broad and engaging curriculum for all the children who attend.

They added that working in this way prepared children for secondary school and future success.

And the school said it was delighted that this strategy had secured excellent outcomes in the key skills of reading, writing and maths.
