Burns lunch at Wainwright Court
RESIDENTS at Wainwright Court in Kendal enjoyed a celebration of poet Robert Burns.
The extra care housing site on Burneside Road was one of the many celebrations held around the world to celebrate the Scottish poet.
Homeowners and friends were piped by Richard Cowie on his bagpipes.
A delicious Scottish menu by chef Mark Newton was served after the haggis was carried on a platter board behind the piper, followed by the whiskies carried by Aaron Leck.
The menu featured starters including Scotch Egg with watercress salad, Scottish Cullen skink and dessert of raspberry trifle or fresh fruit salad.
The event was finished with a toast to the Queen by Paul Senior followed by a rendition of Auld Langs Syne.
