CYCLING up the Lyth Valley road from Gilpin Bridge towards Crosthwaite, I was shocked at the amount of litter on the roadside: empty cans, polystyrene mugs, bottles etc.
I am not averse to going down with bags to collect and dispose of it, but I would like to know who discards litter in this way, why do they do it and what can be done to encourage them to care more for the environment and behave in a more responsible manner.
