TWO of the Royal British Legion's branch offices are at risk of closing due to a falling in their memberships.

The Legion's branches in Kirkby Lonsdale and Milnthorpe are beginning efforts to increase their numbers of volunteers from the public in order to continue operating in the areas.

The Legion has stated: “Branches at Kirkby Lonsdale and Milnthorpe are seeking new volunteers to help with the running of the branches. Both branches have been in existence for many years and are currently in danger of closure due to falling membership. It would be sad to see such long-established branches close as they have been helping our South Lakes Veteran Communities for a long time".

“You do not need to have been a member of the Armed Forces yourself just to have a willingness and desire to help those that have”.

Should you wish to volunteer to help run these local branches please contact CSumpter@britishlegion.org.uk.
