RESIDENTS in Kendal are being warned that flooding is expected.
Government officials are checking flood defences around the River Kent.
The Environment Agency has issued an alert.
The alert states: "Residential and commercial properties including Croppers Mill, New Road, Ivy Crescent, Bournville and Carlingdale areas are at risk.
"We expect river levels to remain high this evening and overnight. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences.
"Please avoid using low lying roads and footpaths near local watercourses."
