CLASS 1 at Selside CE Endowed Primary School were winners of the National Farmers' Union's (NFU's) national education competition, Farmvention.

The Farmvention competition forms a key part of the NFU’s education programme which reconnects children with food, farming and the countryside, all while learning about core topics within the national curriculum.

Class 1 entered the Street food Superstars part of the competition. The brief was to design a healthy street food dish which celebrates British ingredients.

The children were inspired by the Great British sausage roll and reimagined it by adding additional healthy fillings.

The children used their knowledge from what they had previously learnt from Dave Morland’s butchery workshop within Tebay Services and were also inspired by the fresh ingredients they saw and tasted at the Growing Well site at Sizergh Barn.

Selside CE Endowed Primary School was one of eight winning schools and pupils will showcase their designs at an exhibition at the House of Commons on March 17.
