A holiday park owner has announced more than £1m of investment in its Lake District properties.

Parkdean Resorts plans to spend more than £1.2m to install new lodges, upgrade existing caravan accommodation, and improve dining and arcade facilities.

The developments are part of an £80m investment in its business nationwide.

Parkdean operates four parks in the Lake District; Fallbarrow, Limefitt and White Cross Bay at Windermere, and Gatebeck, near Kendal.

The investment will include building eight brand new lodges at White Cross Bay, introducing 11 new caravans to replace old fleet across Fallbarrow, Limefitt and White Cross Bay, and refurbishing the dining and arcade area at Fallbarrow.

The investment in the parks across the Lake District is part of the company’s largest ever annual investment in its estate.

In total, £5.8m will be invested in 2020 in its pilot "parks of the future" initiative.

This will involve creating "state-of-the-art" amenities including accommodation, park facilities and kids’ activity-based entertainment at four of its properties.

The company is also investing more than £13million to provide high-speed wi-fi in every caravan and lodge across all 67 of its parks.

Parkdean chief executive Steve Richards said: “We’ve made great progress in the last year and our success is down to the passion of our teams in helping to deliver great holiday experiences for our customers."
