I SHARE Rosemary Webster's exasperation as to those who litter the beautiful Lyth Valley (Letters, February 13, 'Who would do such a thing?').
Rosemary would be welcome to join Crosthwaite and Lyth's litter pick in March organised by Eve Brookes on the parish council. Last year my wife and I filled 15 bin bags with litter on the A5074 between Totterbank and the Lyth Valley Hotel, a three-mile stretch. Among the usual tin cans, takeaway boxes and cups were the remnants of a burnt-out car including lights and an electric motor. More intriguing, though, was the quarter-mile trail of 100 or so Werther's Original wrappers; someone has a serious sweet and litter habit.
