I AM in favour of the Environment Agency's proposed flood scheme for Kendal.

My house was flooded in 2015 and, apart from the unpleasant experience and subsequent hassle, it took two-and-a-half years to tie up all the loose ends; and after that there has been some insurance difficulty despite the Flood Re Scheme.

This time I escaped - my sympathies to those who didn't.

According to global warming projections, apparently it is expected that flooding in the UK will steadily increase by all measures: of frequency, height, intensity, duration and geographical spread.

Right at this moment Kendal has a golden opportunity, and I'm afraid that if we don't seize that opportunity now we will regret it in the future when Kendal's voice is (no pun intended) drowned out by the clamour for flood mitigation and protection from larger towns and cities with more clout.

Enough is enough. Flood scheme now, please.
