THE White Hart Sports and Social Club is hosting two society annual general meetings (AGMs) in the coming week.

The first is the Sedbergh Angling Club AGM and will be on Tuesday, February 25 at 7.30pm. The second is the Sedbergh Bowling Club AGM at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 27.

AS PART of the fifth Dark Skies Festival, St Andrews Church in Sedbergh is hosting the 'Dark Skies Above Us' exhibition. The exhibition is packed with information on the skies above us, and the human reaction to them, the great structures at Stonehenge, Maes Howe, constellations, telescopes, astronomers including Sedbergh's very own John Inman, and plenty of other information besides.

The Yorkshire Dales is aiming to become an International Dark Sky Reserve by 2021, joining 16 other areas worldwide, and the exhibition also includes details of how the dark skies are assessed in preparation.

The Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors National Park and the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty have combined to run the festival and exhibition, both of which will continue until March 1.

IF YOU are a fan of quiz nights then Sedbergh Young Farmers is running a pie and pea supper and quiz night in the Peoples Hall on Friday (February 21). Teams of up to six people will be allowed and there will be refreshments and a raffle, as well as the quiz and the pie and peas!
