CUMBRIA mountain rescue teams are among the volunteer organisations set to benefit from a £1 million funding boost from the Department for Transport.
50 charities will receive money for vital search and rescue equipment, secretary of state for transport Grant Shapps announced today.
Among those benefitting are Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, which is to receive £18,700, and Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue, which will receive £3,300.
Duddon & Furness Mountain Rescue Team, based at Foxfield, near Broughton-in-Furness, will receive £860.
