A WINDERMERE residential care home has once again been rated ‘good’ in an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Applethwaite Green was visited by CQC inspectors and determined to be 'good' in every single category, recognising the institution to be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Inspectors said residents at the home were "treated well and with kindness and consideration."

"We saw people were treated with dignity and respect. Staff spoke with people in a pleasant, friendly manner with lots of appropriate banter, laughter and hugs," their report added.

"People who lived there confirmed this was usual and they were clearly comfortable with the staff members supporting them."

Residents told inspectors how much they enjoyed social events put on in the home, with favourites including quizzes, bingo and film afternoons.

People were, the report said, supported at the end of their lives "to be comfortable and free from distressing symptoms and pain."
