A WOMAN has avoided an immediate prison sentence after police discovered a knife in her car.
Magistrates handed Keira Draper a 12 week sentence suspended for 12 months after she was found guilty of possessing a knife in a public place.
The 41-year-old, of Bailey Street, Ulverston, was also given two £80 fines for possession of cannabis and amphetamine, which were ordered to be destroyed by magistrates.
In total Draper has to pay £582 and complete 20 days of drug rehabilitation as a requirement of her sentence.
Draper was found guilty last week but the court ordered a report must be completed by the probation officer before a decision was made.
Draper originally pleaded not guilty claiming the knife was for sculpting work. She said she was commissioned to fell a tree and to do sculpting work for a friend.
