KENDAL Community Theatre will hold its first workshop for a production of The Threepenny Opera on Saturday, March 14.
People are being encouraged to sign up early as places are limited for parts in Bertolt Brecht’s play with music, adapted from a translation of John Gay’s 18th century English ballad opera, The Beggar’s Opera.
The workshop will take place at Kendal’s Roman Catholic Church Hall from 10am to 4pm, and costs £15 for non-members, £10 for members and £5 for people on benefits.
Chris Taylor, a founder member of Kendal Community Theatre, will be leading the workshop. He trained at London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, has worked as a teacher, lecturer and theatre maker in England and America; and has appeared in theatres such as London’s Roundhouse and Bath’s Theatre Royal. An Anglican priest, Chris has a PhD in Theatre and Theology.
