A CUMBRIAN community group is on the look out for people with Down's Syndrome who are interested a free footie event in Birmingham.
Diff-Ability, a community interest company, is looking for players aged 13 or over, of any ability or gender, who'd like to attend the DSActive festival in Birmingham on Sunday, June 14.
Cristina Bowman, founder and coordinator of the group said: "We are putting on a coach so people can go down to the festival.
"It is not just about getting active its a really good opportunity make new friends and develop a social aspect.
"It would be great if we could have more girls joining in.
"We don't have any Down's Syndrome football team in Cumbria so anyone that would like to volunteer can come down and we will put them in age groups with other people.
"We are a community interest company based in the Eden area but all our aims are charitable - we have lots of activities for people with Down's Syndrome including inclusive picnics."
The group has recently taken players down to Manchester to play in a footie festival
Diff-Ability hold a number of activity's for people with Down's Syndrome in Cumbria which includes Makaton, a form of sign language, courses in Penrith and Keswick.
The group aims to promote positivity about disability, learning disability and autism by creating inclusive community events, training and conferences.
The event will be held at the PlayFootball venue in Birmingham.
Every team is guaranteed to play between four and six games.
Players will be put against people of a similar football ability and age range, with trophies & medals awarded to the best teams but every player will get a medal.
The DSActive programme is run by the Down’s Syndrome Association to help people with the condition to lead active lives.
