WESTMORLAND Croquet Club have been enjoying various social activities during the winter months.

In December members played ten pin bowling at Morecambe followed by lunch together.

In January there was a dominoes competition and in March, a quiz night and both nights were held at the Heversham Hotel. In February several members of the club were joined by the staff at Levens Hall in a Heart Start session given by Sue Fox and helpers of Milnthorpe First Responders at the Athenaeum in Heversham.

A defibrillator is situated at Levens Hall, so it was a perfect opportunity to learn how to use it.

This year’s croquet season starts on Sunday, April 5 and anyone interested in going along to try the sport will be most welcome. Please email

LEVENS Good Neighbours are a friendly group of volunteers offering confidential help and support to everyone in Levens.

Assistance is offered with local lifts, prescription collection, shopping, handyman/gardening support, emergency child and pet support, exchanging library books, computer support or offering company with a visit and a chat.

Levens Good Neighbours Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday, March 23 at 19.30 at the Methodist Church.

Public Health Locality Manager, Mike Conefrey will give a talk on Improving the Wellbeing of Communities. All welcome to attend.

THE Ladies of Levens have had to rearrange this months meeting as the dance teacher that was booked has cancelled due to the potential risks of the current virus.

Instead, they plan to meet at The Institute for a game’s night on Wednesday, March 25 at 19.30.

Due to the current situation, the evening may have to be cancelled at short notice so please contact 015395 61910 nearer the time to check if the evening is definitely going ahead.

JEAN Hayton coordinated a group of seventeen enthusiastic volunteers to clean the interior of St John's after the recent plastering work.

A fantastic job was done by all and the Church community are extremely grateful to everyone who helped.

LEVENS Bowling Club will hold a coffee morning at The Institute on Saturday, March 28 at 10am.

There will be lots of stalls including tombola, cakes, white elephant and a raffle.

A PLANT sale and Spring Fair will take place at The Institute on Saturday, May 16 at The Institute, 10am - 12noon to raise money for Arnside Guides and Levens Playing Fields.

LEVENS Local History Group has cancelled its meetings for Thursday, March 19 and Thursday, April 16 due to the risks posed by the spread of the corona virus.
