KENDAL Fellwalkers spent the weekend at Kettlewell Youth Hostel in Wharfedale.
Cold, blustery weather, muddy fields and flooded rivers did not detract from the beauty of the valley and added a sense of wildness to the higher ridges.
On Saturday, one group walked from Buckden to Buckden Pike, returning by Cray and Hubberholme, a second group returning to Kettlewell along the Dales Way.
Horse Head Moor and Littondale were the objectives for a third group. On Sunday, two groups climbed from Kettlewell to Great Whernside, while a third group reached the summit by the boggy traverse from Buckden Pike.
Others returned to Littondale to visit Arncliffe and Hawkswick.
