CHILDREN at the primary school had tremendous fun celebrating World Book Day with their super special comic theme, with some wonderful costumes!

School would also like to say a BIG thank you to the lovely PTA who added an extra sparkle to the week by funding a fabulous Comic Strip Workshop for KS2.

The children would like to say a massive thank you to their special guest, decathlete Matt Lee, for joining them for their sponsored PE lessons.

He certainly put everyone, including teachers, through their paces! The whole school participated in a sequence of exercises that help them develop body-strength, giving them a taste of what it would be like to train as an athlete.

They completed a circuit which included sit-ups, step-ups, press-ups, bench squats and burpees (squat thrusts).

CLASS 3 had a fantastic day at Leighton Moss Nature Reserve.

They went pond dipping, mini-beast hunting and bird watching and learned lots of new and interesting information as well as having great fun. A big 'thank you' to the two Janes who led the activities, to Ms Tapper who arranged the visit and to the PTA who funded the trip.

NEW Hutton Institute Committee recently held a Foodie Night which was extremely well supported and enjoyed by more than 80 people.

Lasagne, cottage pie and delicious puddings were served along with drinks.

This proved to be extremely popular and brought the community together. The excellent food was mainly provided by Bessie Ellis, Olive Knowles and Sarah Benbow and willing helpers. The event realised a profit £874.00. It is the intention to hold more of these evenings to make full use of the splendid new kitchen facilities.
