COFFEE chain Costa has announced all of its UK stores will close until further notice.

The company said all shops will close their doors at the usual time on Monday - and will reopen in line with government guidelines later in the year.

Hospital branches will remain an exception, Costa said, adding that it would continue to provide free hot drinks for all NHS workers for the next two weeks.

Express machines - which can be found in garages and supermarket outlets - will also remain open where possible.

It adds that it will, however, 'do its best' to keep stores open in hospitals where NHS staff can continue to get free takeaway coffee for the next two weeks.

In addition, it will deliver 1million cans of coffee to other key workers across the country - The Sun has asked if these will be free and we'll update this story as soon as we get a response.

Self-serve Costa Express machines will also still be available 'where possible'.

The chain says it will continue to pay staff their full average weekly pay over eight weeks.
