CUMBRIA Wildlife Trust has announced the closure of its nature reserve car parks.
The Trust's CEO, Stephen Trotter, posted on social media that 'Sadly, due to disregard of #SocialDistancing guidelines over the weekend, Cumbria Wildlife Trust has now had to close its #NatureReserve car parks for the moment'.
Along with the National Trust, Wildlife Trusts across the country had said they would keep their sites open for the public's well-being during the Coronavirus crisis.
However, images of visitor groups in Cumbria at the weekend and members of the public in parks across the country, ignoring government advice to keep at least two metres apart and to minimise social interactions, have led trust directors to reconsider.
Yesterday, the National Trust announced it would close its gardens and parks, as the sites continued to draw tourist crowds.
