Coach firm National Express will, from today, be running a "limited network" of services in response to the Government's coronavirus lockdown.

The coach company will be running a small number of services to cater to those with "essential travel needs."

National Express UK Coach managing director Chris Hardy said: "[The] latest Government advice is that people should avoid travelling unless it is essential.

"We are still operating to be able to help those individuals with essential travel needs and ask all others to follow guidance and not travel unnecessarily."

The services the firm is running will be limited to 50 per cent capacity to ensure passengers can "socially distance," and enhanced cleaning of the coaches and ticket machines is taking place.

National Express is offering a full refund to anyone whose travel has been cancelled, or a free amendment to their journey within the next 12 months.
