Homes around the area have been displaying rainbows in their window to spread a bit of joy during the coronavirus lockdown.

In Milnthorpe many hand drawn posters and rainbows can be seen, thanking workers including, doctors, nurses and bin men.

One poster reads: “Thank you love from our family to yours, we are staying in for you.”

Stacey Murphy, of Church Road, Milnthorpe said: “My three children wanted to put them in the window to make people smile, my daughter said there are lots of sad children and I want to make them smile.”

Kyla Murphy said: “I painted the rainbow with my two year old, we really hoped that putting a small thank you to all the key workers would make someone smile and make even one more person think to stay inside.”

Victoria Hilton, of Cumberland Drive, Kendal, said, “My children wanted the key worker’s children who are still going to school to know they are thinking of them.”
