MORECAMBE Bay health trust has confirmed that three more patients have died at their hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

Two of the people died at Furness General Hospital in Barrow and one at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Aaron Cummins, Chief Executive for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust said on Friday night: "We can confirm that, sadly, a further three patients have died who tested positive for COVID-19 whilst being treated at our hospitals.

“They were a man aged 72 being treated at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, an 83-year old man being treated at Furness General Hospital, and a 92-year-old woman who died at FGH.

"They all had underlying health conditions and died in the past two days.

"Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients’ families and loved ones, and we would ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."
