THE studio may be closed, but the music continues to play for Bay Trust Radio.

For the last 43 years Bay Trust Radio (formally Kendal Hospital Radio) has been the link between patients in hospital and their families and friends across the Morecambe Bay and in 2019 Bay Trust Radio took over the operation of Radio Victoria-based at the Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

In these times of social distancing, self-isolation and lockdowns Bay Trust Radio volunteers believe it is more important than ever to continue a special link between the hospital and the community.

John Williamson Station Manager said: “Bay Trust Radio is set up to allow our presenters to broadcast from home, so even social isolation won’t be a barrier for to us keeping the service on air. Families and friends can request songs for loved ones every single day, giving people contact at a time when visiting is suspended.”

If you want to request a song for a loved one who is either a patient or an NHS member of staff at the Westmorland General Hospital, Kendal, Royal Lancaster Infirmary or the Victoria Hospital Blackpool go here and complete our online request form.

Also, the radio station has added Hits for Heroes where people can tell us about a person, group or organisation going above and beyond to celebrate their work and dedicate a song to be played this will be broadcast on Saturdays afternoons from 2 pm.
