A MAN from Cumbria has defied lockdown by travelling to Wales to climb a mountain.

Staff from a hotel in Wales challenged a man they saw returning to his car after climbing Snowdon.

When challenged by staff, the man from Cumbria became abusive, reported North Wales Police on Twitter.

In a tweet, they said: "Staff from a local hotel challenged a man seen returning to his car after he'd walked up Snowdon earlier.

"Travelled from Cumbria.

"Abusive when challenged thinking regulations did no apply.

"Armed Policing for Cheshire and North Wales stopped him on the A55.

"He was reported for breaching #COVID19 legislation."
