THE newly reformed Under 18 League will be making its return when the 2020/21 season gets under way following a huge announcement by The Westmorland County FA.

Clubs from across the county will be given the exciting opportunity of starting an under 18 team in a league which will be run by The Westmorland County FA.

It is a number of years since The Westmorland and Furness League folded and the decision to start the brand new under 18 league was made after the demand was high following a consultation with a number of clubs across the county.

Clubs will be able to give players more time in youth football, while trying to keep them in the game where they could potentially make the transition into senior football.

Some players may even be able to play Saturday football as well as Sunday youth football which will further aid in their development and progression.

The league is open to clubs from all across the county as The Westmorland FA aim to provide a quality experience for all.

And in other news The Westmorland FA have also announced that clubs can apply for grants of up to £500.

James Pattison, football development officer, said “We are extremely keen on ensuring we keep as many players in the game as possible and grow our local leagues. Across the country there is a decrease of adult male teams each season. We want to stop that trend in Westmorland and achieve some growth.”
