THIS year’s Hawkshead agricultural show has been cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is the second year in a row it will not take place, with rain forcing cancellation in 2019.

The show would have seen visitors descend on Hawkshead Hall Farm for livestock judging and other activities.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesman for the show said: “We are very sorry to announce that this year’s Hawkshead Show has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

“We feel that with restrictions and social distancing measures the show will not be able to go ahead as normal.

“Due to previous bad weather cancellations we need to preserve our funds, and early cancellation of this year’s show puts us in a position where we are able to ensure the future of the show for 2021!

“The date of next year’s show will be Tuesday, August 24. Put the date in your diary.

“In the meantime, stay at home and stay safe.”
