POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a motorway collision.

Officers were called around 5.20pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 26) to reports of a collision at Junction 35 of the M6.

A Hyundai Ioniq car travelling northbound had left the carriageway and collided with a bridge support.

Emergency services attended and the driver, a 68-year-old man from Hove, East Sussex, had suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The carriageway was closed for more than six hours while accident investigators attended the scene with a diversion route put in place.

Officers are appealing for information and are keen to speak to anyone with dashboard mounted camera footage of the incident.

Sgt Adam Dawson, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with the driver and his family at this very sad and difficult time.

“We are continuing to appeal for witnesses and would encourage anyone with information, or dashcam footage, to come forward.

“If you can help police, please call Lancashire Police on 101 or email 3105@lancashire.pnn.police.uk quoting 1108 of May 26.”
