A MAN from Kendal died in hospital after falling at home, an inquest heard.
Vincent John Hodgkinson’s death came as a result of a chest infection with underlying causes being noted as a spinal cord contusion and heart problems, Cockermouth Coroners’ Court heard.
The Birkbeck Close resident died in Royal Lancaster Infirmary on December 29 2019, the day before his 87th birthday.
The former Telecomms inspector had two children - Michael and Janine.
His neighbour David Hewitt phoned the ambulance when he found him on the floor in his kitchen, the hearing heard. Following this Mr Hodgkinson was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where they diagnosed he had hyperextended his neck during the fall.
The inquest was told he was transferred to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where he developed chronic pneumonia. His doctor said he was ‘clearly a well liked gentleman and that he will be missed’.
Coroner Kirsty Gomersal recorded a verdict of accidental death.
