A LOVING daughter is honouring the memory of her late mum by raising money for St John’s Hospice.

Anna Jackson set up ‘Vera’s Fund’ to raise donations for the hospice and mark the 20th anniversary of her mother Vera's death.

Anna, from Ingleton, said: “Vera’s Fund raises money for St. John’s Hospice in memory of my wonderful mum.

“It is my way of coping. We kicked it off on the 20th anniversary because the memories are difficult sometimes. You don’t ever forget about someone that special. It’s a nice way of keeping mum’s memory alive.

“We used to do a monthly supper club but with lockdown we worked round it to do a stay at home afternoon tea and deliver picnics to people’s houses instead. We kept them very cheap and we got extra donations and a lot of businesses donated as well. We’ve been doing this over a year. So far, we’ve raised about £6200 in total.”

Over the VE weekend, Anna and her friends Laura and Liz prepared more than 200 picnics which were delivered, at a safe distance, by volunteers and raised £1415.

Catherine Butterworth, director of income generation at St John’s Hospice in Lancaster, said: “Anna’s fundraising is tireless, and we continue to be moved by all that Anna has done over the years for St John’s in memory of her mum Vera.”
