MOUNTAIN rescuers were called out to the report of a cyclist suffering head injuries while descending a Lake District mountain pass.

The man had 'crashed' at the 'notorious' bridge on the descent from Honister Pass towards Buttermere.

A spokesman for Keswick Mountain Rescue Team, which was called out to the incident on Friday at around 4pm, said team members found the cyclist 'dazed' but with 'no apparent significant injuries.'

The spokesman said the cyclist was 'fortunately' wearing a helmet and was able to walk.

An ambulance arrived to transport the man to hospital.
