A MAN broke a tooth in an alleged assault.

Police have arrested two men following an incident in Ambleside on Sunday.

Officers said a man was assaulted by two men on Rothay Road at around 6pm.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was said to have sustained a cut to the underneath of his eye, bad swelling around the eye and a snapped tooth.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "Two men in their 20s from the Windermere area have been arrested by police shortly after the incident and remain in police custody on suspicion of causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent.

"Police are appealing to any witnesses who have any information to please contact Cumbria Police to assist with the investigation.

"Police are particularly keen to speak with a female who was believed to be with the offenders at the time of the incident.
