SOUTH Lakes MP Tim Farron is encouraging local small B&Bs and other small businesses who have been unable to access the Government’s other coronavirus financial support schemes, to apply for a new grant which opened this week.
The Discretionary Business Grant Fund is designed to help those businesses that occupy space in a building where their landlord pays the rates bill and B&Bs that pay council tax rather than business rates.
Businesses can apply for the grant by going to www.southlakeland.gov.uk and filling in an online form.
Mr Farron said: “I’m delighted that, following joint pressure from Cumbria Tourism, South Lakeland District and my team, the Government have made these funds available to small B&Bs.
“Please remember, these are grants and not loans – they don’t need to be paid back – so please do take advantage of this support to help your business.
“Businesses have less than two weeks to apply for the grant so make sure you don’t miss out.”
