TWO goats reported stolen after they were spotted being taken away from a Lakes manor house actually belonged to visitors.
Staff at Levens Hall initially thought the animals were two rare breed Bagot goats snatched from the popular attraction’s deer park.
They contacted police and put out a social media appeal after two men were seen carrying the goats before driving off from the hall on Saturday afternoon.
But they later posted on Facebook: “We have now managed to establish that, in actual fact, the goats were not Bagot goats, but incredibly, were pet goats brought by car on a day’s excursion to Levens Park!
“This is of course, great news for Levens Hall.
“But is just another thing to add to this completely unacceptable behaviour that we have had in Levens Deer Park, not only in recent weeks, but in general.”
