A TALENTED ex-contestant of ‘Masterchef: the Professionals’ is setting up shop in Ulverston with a tempting, tasty menu.

Mark Satterthwaite is taking over the Coach House at Ford Park in Ulverston, rebranding the popular cafe as ‘Base by Elite Dining’.

In Mark’s 2018 Masterchef appearance, he was given 15 minutes to cook a poached plaice with a beurre blanc sauce.

Later in the show he produced his own signature dish of sea trout cooked three ways: pan fried, beetroot cured and as a tartar on a potato rösti, accompanied by roasted golden beetroot, beetroot crisps and candied beetroot with a beetroot and grapefruit coolie.

The restaurant, which is opening up for the first time today, will initially only be offering takeaway goods, but will then be opening up its doors for a deliciously good eat-in experience post-lockdown.

A post by Ford Park Ulverston and Coach House Cafe on Facebook, said: “Mark is a well known local chef and chocolatier and former head chef of the multi award-winning Blacksmiths Arms Pub at Broughton-in-Furness.

“Mark will be leasing the Coach House premises from Ford Park Community Group.

“As an ambassador for Cumbrian produce, Mark is keen to support local suppliers and growers.

"His ‘field to fork ethos’ means all of Mark’s offerings are homemade and sourced locally, including from our on-site kitchen garden here at Ford Park.”

Mark Satterthwaite said: “We are extremely excited to be taking on the Coach House premises.

"We will rebrand and refresh the interior to match our contemporary style of food and service.

“We will implement our family friendly 'field to fork' ethos whilst showcasing the best of Cumbrian produce.

“Cumbria has a bounty of incredible producers and growers that we will work with to bring everyone the best of what our county has to offer, including fresh, seasonal, exciting evening menus alongside a vibrant day time offering.

“Ford Park is such an incredible space that is managed by a fantastic team. We are extremely proud to be working alongside them to bring something unseen in Ulverston previously.

“We look forward to welcoming you soon.”

The takeaway will be open from Thursday-Sunday, 5pm-9pm.
