A TWO-minute silence was observed by people across Furness and further afield to remember the family who died in a crash in Dalton last weekend.
Thirty-seven-year-old Joshua James Flynn, his son Coby-Jay, 15, and daughter Skylar, 12, were killed along with their beloved dog Troy on Abbey Road.
Forty-seven-year-old David Logan, of Broughton Road, Dalton, has since been charged with three counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
And people across the region were united in observing a two-minute silence at 11am yesterday, many of them standing on their doorsteps to do this.
A single bell tolled from St Mary’s Church, Dalton, afterwards.
Furness Academy, Barrow, where Coby-Jay and Skylar went to school, paid tribute to the teenagers in a statement posted on Facebook.
A school spokesman said: “It will take us all a very long time to come to terms with the loss and the manner in which it happened.
“Alongside our colleagues at Cambridge Primary School, where both Coby-Jay and Skylar attended before coming to Furness Academy, we are all deeply shocked and saddened that two bright and beautiful young people have had their lives tragically ended.
“Our school communities have forever been changed.”
He said the news had rocked ‘not only our school, but the entire Barrow community’.
Mrs Yates, Skylar’s form tutor, said: “Skylar was a funny, thoughtful and sensitive member of the form group.
“She had the best giggle in the class, and often giggled between questions as she knew what she wanted to say but often could not find the right words.
“My best way to describe her: A really happy, smiley student.”
Mrs Silver described Coby-Jay as ‘a lovely young man’ and ‘the kind of student everyone would want in their form group’.
“Helpful reliable, dependable, a shining example to everyone who knew him and he will be deeply missed by us all,” she said.
