A VILLAGE primary school managed to reopen for more children - but in a very different way.

Grasmere Primary School, knowing it did not have adequate space to social distance, reached out to the Westmorland County Show to see if they could hire some outdoor marquees.

The county show did not disappoint and now children are enjoying their lessons in the great outdoors.

A spokesman for the school said: "We’ve got two big marquees, and we now have four year groups working outside in them.

“The remaining four year groups are spread out in a very airy school, with windows wide open. Everyone who wants to be back at school is now back for the last four weeks of term.”

The school thanked the show for their help with reopening to more children.

“We are so grateful to Westmorland County Show for supporting us in this way," said the spokesman.

"We would not have been able to re-open for the whole school without our big, beautiful, stripy marquees.”
