A FORTY-four-year-old west Cumbrian man has appeared before magistrates accused of murder.
At Workington's magistrates' court this morning, Trevor Green appeared in the glass-fronted dock of Court Number 2 charged with murdering his partner Shelly Clark.
Prosecutors allege Green, of Mill Hill, Cleator Moor, murdered her on Thursday, July 16.
The defendant - wearing grey jogging bottoms and a grey sweatshirt - spoke only to confirm his personal details and say that he understood what was happening.
Presiding magistrate Jenny Wilkinson told Green he will appear before a Carlisle Crown Court judge via a video link tomorrow.
In the meantime, he will remain remanded in custody.
After the death of Shelly Clark became public, relatives issued a tribute.
In a statement, they said: “Shelly was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunty, niece, cousin -and friend to many.
“She will be sorely missed."
