A CLEATOR Moor man charged with murdering his partner will be asked to enter his plea to the allegation on October 12.

Trevor Green, 44, of Mill Hill, Cleator Moor, is accused of murdering 43-year-old Shelly Clark on July 16.

He appeared before Carlisle Crown Court today via video link.

It was his second court appearance following his being charged.

During today's 25 minute hearing, the defendant spoke only to confirm his name, nationality, date of birth, and to confirm that he understood what was happening.

After prosecuting barrister Francis McEntee outlined a timetable to the case to progress, The Honourable Mrs Justice Yip agreed that a plea and trial preparation hearing will be held on October 12.

She ruled also that if there is to be a trial, it should go ahead on November 29, with a time estimate of five to seven days.

The defendant told the judge that he had heard and understood the proceedings.

The judge remanded him in custody until the hearing in October.
