PROSPECT Hospice is planning events for next year after losing an estimated £2 million in income from being forced to cancel 2020's fundraisers.

The Starlight Walk will return on June 16, with hundreds of people expected to set off from Swindon Town Football Club around 8pm, and its smaller kids-only version will be back on March 7.

A new event would have been held this year in celebration of the charity's 40th anniversary but instead, the 80s-themed It's a Prospect Knockout will be held at the Swindon Cricket Ground on July 18.

Supporters are encouraged to dig out their leg warmers and crimp their hair in celebration of four decades of hospice care in the area.

Events and community manager Amy Francombe said: "We had so much interest n this new event that we simply had to try again. For those who remember the TV programme back in the 70s and 80s, you’ll know what fun it can be. For those who haven’t seen it, I encourage you to Google it. Once you see it, I know you’ll want to join in.

“The cancellation of all our events hit us really hard but we can’t dwell on that. We have to stay positive and look forward to bringing our supporters together when we can to raise funds for the hospice.

“We’ve been working hard to get everything in place for 2021 and I want to thank all the venues we’re working with for their support in getting these dates in the diary. We know our supporters love our events and want to do something to help us. We can’t wait to see everyone again.”
