A MOUNTAIN rescue team were called out after a woman sustained a serious leg injury.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team responded to a call by Cumbria Police on Wednesday after a woman slipped and sustained a serious leg injury on Brock Barrow in Coniston.

A full team callout was initiated and all three of the team's Land Rovers were despatched.

A spokesman for CMRT said: "The woman's injury was assessed, pain relief given, the leg splinted, and then she was carried on our stretcher down to the waiting land ambulance. She was then transferred to Furness General hospital."
