NEARLY 400 people have successfully recovered from coronavirus across Morecambe Bay, new figures have revealed.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, which manages Furness General Hospital, Westmorland General in Kendal and the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, has reported that since February 397 people have been discharged home from their hospitals after being treated for coronavirus.

According to figures released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS), there has been no Covid-19 related deaths within Morecambe Bay hospitals since July 9.

The total number of recorded deaths caused by coronavirus is 169.

The latest figures have been announced after new coronavirus cases were discovered in a number of Cumbrian care homes.

Both residents and staff members tested positive for Covid-19,according to Cumbria County Council's Director of Public Health, Colin Cox.

ONS figures revealed that there was 77 coronavirus-related deaths in Cumbria care homes in July.
