After being forced to postpone a highly-anticipated production due to lockdown being announced the day before showtime, one amateur dramatics group is thrilled to be back on track.

Although things aren't fully back to normal for the group just yet, the Whitehaven and District Amateur Operatic Society (WADAOS) is pleased to be holding their annual general meeting next week to discuss the team's future.

With high hopes for the discussion, the group will meet at The Castle Knights Bar and Bistro, Whitehaven, on Tuesday (August 18) to talk about all-things-operatics – and, most importantly, their upcoming events.

And one of the biggest plans is for their Let's Get Back Together Again social, inviting all cast and crew of their cancelled Annie to the event, and get everyone smiling once again.

The society's Vice Chairman, Lynn McTiffin, said: "We have all been devastated to have had to take the unavoidable decision to postpone our production of Annie due to to this ongoing pandemic.

"We have really missed everyone! We are absolutely delighted to be able to invite our cast back for an enthusiastic fun packed open day."

The meeting will begin at 7pm, and everyone is welcome to attend to keep up-to-date on the group's plans and ideas, as well as the struggles they've faced during the past six months.

An election will also be held by members to form a dedicated working committee, with all involved suggesting who they think would be the best person for the job.

And while shows remain on-hold, with the talented bunch hoping to welcome guests back to the theatre in 2021, the meeting is a major step in the right direction.
