MILLOM School has reported a high level of success among students.

A large number of students got the grades they were looking for and will now move on to their first-choice university.

Headteacher Matt Savidge said: “First of all I would like to congratulate all of the students at Millom School who are receiving their results today.

“This year the situation with Covid-19 and the shutdown of schools in March makes this results day unique.

“The grades the students are receiving are the result of the national standardisation of centre assessed grades we submitted in June. We hope that the students believe they have received grades that do reflect their hard work and depth of learning throughout their courses.”

Among some of the top students were Jack Tallentire, Amy Johnson and Kieran Titmas who achieved A*, A, A grades, respectively."

Colin Nunn, director of learning and standards sixth form, added: “The students have worked hard to achieve solid grades in their chosen qualifications and have secured first choice places at universities or places on apprenticeships with local companies including BAE and Sellafield.”

And Becky Ruddy, chair of governors, added: “It is great to see so many Millom School students being awarded the results they need for the next stage of their education or working life.

“I wish all of our students every success and hope that the successes of the sixth form will motivate and encourage other Millom students to make the most of the numerous opportunities available to them in school.”
