TWO off road bikers who ‘goaded’ officers into chasing them during a busy Friday night shift have been branded lunatics.

Officers have now vowed to catch those responsible, saying they have a plan in place to tackle the anti-social behaviour.

The incident occurred early on Friday evening when police officers from the force were out and about speaking to members of the community about the coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

A spokesman said: “As if we dont have enough to deal with this evening, there are currently two "off road" bikes riding like lunatics around the Shadsworth estate, goading police officers into chasing them

They have no regards for their own or anyone else’s safety and if any local residents see these bikes and can help us in identifying the riders of where they live we would love to hear from you.”

An update later read: “Thanks to the community tonight, we have some decent lines of enquiry into those responsible for the anti-social riding of bikes around the Shadsworth area of Blackburn.

“It is clear from the comments on here that the majority of people are sick and fed up of these individuals who have no regard for anyone, and it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured, or worse.

“We have plans in place to tackle this behaviour and will deal with those responsible robustly.”
