A MAN has appealed for information after his car was stolen outside his home in the dead of night.

Robert MacGregor’s Ford Fiesta was taken from near his home on the Castle Estate in Kendal at the weekend.

“They took it in the middle of the night,” said Mr MacGregor.

“They must have had some sort of device to fold the central locking system, because I still have the keys.

“I thought I heard something about midnight, I heard a car starting up and driving away.

“I glanced out of the window and saw lights driving away, but I didn’t think anything of it.

“I didn’t notice till about nine in the morning the next day.”

Mr MacGregor relies heavily on his car in order to get to work.

“I need it to get to work,” he said.

“At the moment someone I work with is giving me a lift and a courtesy car is being arranged.”

Not only is Mr MacGregor coping with the loss of his car, but also the personally valuable items which he had left in the vehicle.

“It’s really unfair, these people have targeted my car,” said Mr MacGregor.

“It’s a kick in the teeth, there’s all the stuff I had in the back for my volunteer work.”

Mr MacGregor is a volunteer fireman at a steam railway, which he has now had to cancel while he is without his car and equipment.

“I had all my equipment in there,” he continued.

“All my bits and pieces that aren’t valuable to anyone else but they’re valuable to me, because they were mine.

“I bought my fireman shovel fourteen years ago.

“ I passed my fireman exam with it and I modified it for myself.”

Mr MacGregor believes the car must have travelled a specific route from his home.

“I think the way the car was parked it had to go through Sedbergh Road, then down Ann Street,” he said.

“Then it would have gone through town over the bridge by the Riverside Hotel.

“That’s my theory.”

A police spokesperson said on the matter: “On August 19 2020 police received a report of a stolen vehicle, a Ford Fiesta, from Castle Grove in Kendal.

“The investigation is ongoing.”
