POLICE have warned that people in the county are being targeted by fake demands to pay fixed penalty fines.
Officers said they had received reports that residents had received fraudulent emails purporting to be from HM Courts and Tribunals Service.
One email asked for a £25 penalty to be paid for a driving offence.
Cumbria Police has asked anyone who is targeted by the scam to report it immediately to Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040.
Requests for money can be checked with the Fixed Penalty Office on 01768 217521.
