AN EXCITING new event is coming to Cockshott Point, Bowness between Friday 19 - Sunday 20 September.

The Lakeshore Cinema event has been created through partnership working between, Bowness & Windermere Forward (BWF), Windermere and Bowness Chamber of Trade, Cumbria Tourism, National Trust and Windermere Rugby Club.

The significant start-up costs for the event have been funded by BWF and once these costs are recouped all profits will be available for distribution to local community projects and groups through an application process.

The event overview of Lakeshore Cinema is below, and the organisers are keen to engage local businesses.

THERE are 5 key ways businesses can be involved and food/drink can be delivered to event go-ers through One Delivery Advertise on the big screen contact helen@bwforward.org.uk for prices and more details, share to your followers/database/social, volunteer to marshal for a film - they'll get a free ticket contact helen@bwforward.org.uk and see attached.

Come and enjoy it! (Use local discount code LA23CIN for 10% off all pods other than already discounted Family Pod).

THERE will be no food and drink on site other than popcorn and soft drinks, the idea being that movie-go-ers (up to 480 per film) will be encouraged to order food and drink to be delivered using the https://one-delivery.co.uk/ app which appears to be the only 'one stop shop' for local delivery.

If you are not on the site it may be worth familiarising yourself with it and seeing if you would be interested in being on there and if so, registering! Please note the organisers are not endorsing the system but as it is the 'one in use' feel this is the most straightforward way of encouraging spending with local businesses whilst they are at the event. There is a need to send orders to Cockshott Point 'ready to eat' with cutlery and napkins as these will not be available on site.

ATTENDEES will find out about One Delivery and local businesses involved through social and importantly when booking their ticket.

Once booked they will receive an email encouraging them to download the app and to use that for ordering food during their time at Lakeshore Cinema if they aren't already eating in town.

THE event will be promoted using BWF's Facebook page, and supported on the social media of Cumbria Tourism and Lake District National Park. Flock (who are volunteering all their time for the project) are happy to promote local businesses who engage with the cinema on the BWF platform too.

If businesses would like to create a Cinema Offer or link up on social in any way, please contact janettandsophia@createaflock.co.uk who will be happy to discuss this with you. The idea behind this is to ensure Lakeshore Cinema don't take trade away from the town, instead Lakeshore Cinema will be using the booking system and other promotional material to encourage people to have breakfast/lunch/dinner in town and to make a 'day of it' with other local attractions.

Lakeshore Cinema will be developing offers and partnerships on this basis too.

Tickets officially are now on sale, social media and press campaign will begin now. Please share and support!

The purpose of the event is to create a recovery event for the local community to provide a boost and celebrate resilience.

To raise funds for local charities and community groups.

To provide a platform for local community groups to fundraise and to recruit additional members (for instance but not limited to Windermere Rugby Club, WBCofT, BWF, National Trust at Cockshott Point, Wombles of Windermere).

THERE will be seven films screened on a 17m screen at Cockshott Point overlooking Belle Isle, providing a unique outdoor cinema event for our area.

The space will be marked out to create social 'pods' of up to six per pod. The ticketing system will ensure all contact details and Covid guidance can be met. The full Health & Safety report has been submitted and approved by SLDC and covers all the necessary Covid and general H&S requirements.

LAKESHORE Cinema are also providing toilet facilities.

The footpath at Cockshott Point remains open to the public but the event space will be marshalled and barriered. The event can and will still take place in the rain (though obviously not in extreme weather).

A full Event Safety Document has been produced in partnership with SLDC to create a Covid-safe event. A Temporary Events Notice has been awarded by SLDC and full permission has been granted by The National Trust.

THE 597-bus service is restarting from 15th September. It will go to the front of Booths (Railway Station). You need to wear a mask on the bus and the max capacity will be 8.
