PUPILS at a south Cumbria school have been beamed onto the nation’s screens.

Five Year Nine students from Queen Katherine School in Kendal were broadcast as part of CITV’s ‘Project Z’ show.

They featured as part of the Wednesday programme - the aim of which was to escape from zombies who had taken over their school.

The group of selected students from the South Lakes school who took part in the CITV broadcast this month were: Josh Shaw; Toby Cox; Marvin Gibbs; Molly Jones; Ella Martindale.

Commenting ahead of their TV debuts, James Morgan, Head of Year Nine, said: “The students can’t wait to reach minor celebrity status.

“They’ve had to wait a long time to see themselves on the small screen and now the moment has finally arrived!

“Please make sure you form an orderly, and socially distanced queue for autographs!”

Although uncertainty still hangs over the courses of GCSE pupils in schools across Cumbria, Queen Katherine School's Year Nine pupils have been doing their best to make the most of the return to classes.

The school returned to some form of 'normality' and routine this month as it began to welcome back pupils for the 2020-2021 academic year.
